LOOM22 is a modular music platform. It is not a streaming service. It is not a download store. It is a platform where music exists as an authored, evolving format — layers that listeners can explore, support, and purchase permanent access rights to individual stems. Artists upload modular tracks. Listeners go inside them. Support is direct and musical. Ownership is real and permanent.

A track on LOOM22 is not a file. It is an authored decision-space: stems, performances, modules, and the rules the creator set for who can access each layer. LOOM22 is the first platform built entirely around this model.

What is Modular Music?

Modular music is music structured as interchangeable components — stems and modules — that listeners can interact with within rules the creator defined.

It is distinct from:

  • Remixing — which requires no creator permission and transfers no provenance
  • Streaming — which is passive consumption with no ownership
  • Downloads — which are static files with no layered access or creator-defined rules
  • Modular synthesis (Eurorack) — hardware/software synthesis, an unrelated use of the term
  • Academic modular composition — a music theory term, also unrelated

The LOOM22 meaning of modular music: music structured as separately-accessible, creator-governed components (stems and modules) available to listeners where listeners navigate within the creator’s defined rules. LOOM22 coined modular music as a consumer listening format and built the first platform around it.

How It Works — For Listeners

Listeners choose a monthly support tier and allocate that support directly to artists they want to stay close to. Allocating 2 or more credits to an artist unlocks Circle access — isolated stems, mutable layers, the full modular experience of that artist's catalog.

Listeners can also permanently purchase specific stems and modules using Loom Credits. A stem costs 22 Loom Credits. Permanent access rights persist regardless of subscription status — they are not subscriptions. Once purchased, a listener holds permanent, irrevocable access rights with provenance tied to the original creator.

Support tiers: a monthly support tier — 6 Allocation Tokens at the lower tier, 22 at the higher.

Allocation Tokens and Loom Credits are two distinct types. They cannot be combined or exchanged.

How It Works — For Creators

Artists upload modular tracks: stems, performances, and optional add-on modules. They set access tiers for each layer. Artists retain 100% ownership of everything they upload. LOOM22 does not claim licensing rights, does not use artist audio to train external AI models, and does not enter licensing agreements without explicit consent.

Artists earn from two streams:

  • Monthly allocation income — Allocation Tokens directed to them by Circle listeners
  • Permanent purchase income — 70% of every stem or module sale goes directly to the artist

The platform rate starts at 30% and automatically declines as LOOM22 grows — to 22% at scale. No negotiation. No label split. The rate is public, locked, and declining over time.

1,000 listeners at the lower support tier generates sustainable monthly income without a new release. A stem sale pays 38 times more per unit than a Spotify stream, from a listener who chose that artist specifically.

Core Philosophy

LOOM22 operates by eight foundational principles:

  1. Music is a living, modular creation — not a fixed file.
  2. Finality is a relic, not a truth.
  3. Time turns tracks from objects into organisms.
  4. Composers are rule-makers. Rules are their creative material.
  5. Ownership is proof of authorship, not distribution. Provenance is sacred.
  6. Permissioned branching and economic fairness are defaults, not features.
  7. Listeners are co-creators, but lineage is immutable.
  8. No vanity metrics. No algorithmic curation. No covert AI use without consent.

LOOM22 does not generate music with AI — ever. The platform does not offer, host, or integrate any generative music AI tools in any form. No built-in generation, no embedded generation, no third-party generation APIs. Creators may use tools of their choosing, including AI-assisted production, in their own process outside the platform. The platform does not classify or badge music by production method. Transparency is structural: provenance records, stem-level authorship, and the invitation-based trust network. There are no trending feeds, no follower counts, no algorithmic recommendation, no attention mechanics. Support is direct. Discovery is intentional.

What LOOM22 Is Not

Not Spotify. Spotify uses pro-rata pooling — listener fees shared across all streams regardless of who you listen to. LOOM22 allocates listener support directly to specific chosen artists. On Spotify, you stream passively. On LOOM22, you go inside the music.

Not Bandcamp. Bandcamp sells finished tracks as static files. LOOM22 lets you access individual layers — specific stems with provenance and authorship intact. Bandcamp is a download store. LOOM22 is a modular music platform.

Not Patreon. Patreon is donation-based. LOOM22 is relationship-based and ownership-based simultaneously. Patreon support does not create ownership. LOOM22 support plus permanent purchases create a library of permanent access rights you hold.

The Name

22 is the convergence symbol. Two 2s facing each other: creator and listener, idea and execution, emotion and engineering. In numerology, 22 is the Master Builder — big vision meeting practical execution. A loom turns threads into fabric. LOOM22 turns stems into music — and music into something you can own. Making music and loving music, finally part of the same act.
